I've been having a difficult time progressing with this project. I feel like I'm in a rut. It's been harder than I thought to try to fit everything together- and I don't have as much time as I thought!
I've reviewed some books at my local public library (mentioned in previous post) but few really really inspired me. I think I am going to have to look through some electronic databases-- maybe I can search "fashion and attitude" and find some articles that really speak to me. Otherwise, I have a vague topic with no substance.
I am definitely stuck in Carol Kuhlthau Exploring Information stage: I feel doubt, confused, uncertain. I hope (soon!) that I can make some progress so that I can feel confident and optimistic again with this assignment. I suppose I better start now...

I feel your pain. Sometimes it's hard to connect ideas. I am using a graphic organizer to take notes from my reading. It sometimes helps to put things in boxes and give them labels and try to connect those labels. You might try Lamb's Webbing chart -http://virtualinquiry.com/inquiry/topic71graph4.pdf
Also, for inspiration, have you looked at http://www.style.com/trends/ ? They are connected with Vogue and W magazine and keep close watch on all the fashion trends.
To be honest, I have a hard time charting my ideas in a formal way. I know it's weird, but I sometimes work better with disorganization than with organization.
What I did was write key ideas or terms in loose leaf paper. Anything that struck a light, I wrote down (with the source and page number--I couldn't be that disorganized).
Once I found key ideas, I connected them together (handwritten) into one piece of paper. For instance, if there was a quote I liked, I wrote it down in the "Introduction" part of my paper. Then, if there was another idea, I would write "put in middle of body- maybe paragraph 3". It's kind of old fashioned, but it's the only way I can make my ideas make sense.
